This page list ideas for lessons that I can model in your classroom. This list is by no means exhaustive. Give me enough time to prepare, and I can teach just about any math lesson for you! I have arranged these by content strands. The suggested grade level for each lesson is based on the Alabama Course of Study. However, most lessons can be modified to fit another grade. In some cases, I have included links to the information I used to plan the lesson so that you can teach the lesson on your own if you prefer. Keep checking back because I will be adding new lessons often.

Number and Operation

X Zone This game allows students to practice multiplying a two-digit whole number by a decimal (1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75). Students practice using the distributive property and equivalent fractions to multiply mentally. (6th grade)

Multiplication TablesBlog post on ways to catch students up on the multiplication tables.

Algebra

Linear Equations on the Graphing Calculator - Students experiment with graphing different equations on the graphing calculator to discover the effects of changing the slope and y-intercept. (Pre-Algebra).

Tangrams - Students fold and cut a sheet of paper to make a set of tangrams. While making the pieces, the teacher reviews geometry vocabulary. Students then put the pieces back together to form a square. This lesson has many extensions and would be appropriate for almost any grade level. I found this lesson at The Educator's Reference Desk.
